US Open 2020 Tips, Odds and Tennis Free Bonus Bets

Well it looks to be a one act affair in 2020 for the world number one Novak Djokovic. He comes here on the back of cruising through tournaments where he barely got out of second gear, and strikes a draw that doesn’t feature Federer, Nadal or Kyrgios.

He is a prohibitive favourite at $1.80 and with only Tsitsipas and to a lesser extent Alex Zverev (who made headlines for all the wrong reasons in the lead up to this year’s Open), Novak looks almost a sure thing to reach the final. Djokovic is undefeated in 2020 and that should continue over the next two weeks.

Away from Novak it’s difficult to find anything of real value. Medvedev is the likely challenger after his herculean effort last year to take Nadal to an epic 5-set final where he just fell short. He knows what it takes to get to the end and this year has a very easy quarter en route to the final, with only Dom Thiem as a live threat to his chances of reaching it.

If there is to be a huge boilover, Roberto Bautista Agut played a fantastic semi-final against Djokovic in the lead up tournament and has proven himself to be a very handy player on hard courts.

Like most Ladies Grand Slams in recent times, there is no standout player and anyone can win this. We only need to go back to the last two Grand Slams played, with Sofia Kenin winning the Australian Open starting as a $31 chance, and last year’s US Open winner Bianca Andreescu winning the tournament starting as a $41 chance.

This year there is a bit more exposed form in the Ladies, with more lead up tournaments having been played, and with the predicted super quick courts this year, the hard hitting Karolina Pliskova gets a great opportunity to win her maiden Slam.

The last time the courts were predicted to play faster than normal (four years ago), Pliskova was a finalist and led 3-1 in the final set before losing to Angie Kerber who was simply airborne at the time. We think she can go one better in 2020.

We are happy to take on Serena here. Minimal lead up form and she now hasn’t won a Grand Slam for over three years. She will absolutely go down as the GOAT of women’s tennis, but she isn’t getting any younger and unlike in the men’s draw, the younger players are catching up and starting to surpass her.

Naomi Osaka is the logical favourite, but she’s been bothered by a niggling hamstring injury. She’s also not as suited to the predicted super fast courts than the other hard hitters, so she has more things against her than in her previous US Open win.

If there is to be a giant boilover in the Ladies, Jennifer Brady has been playing fantastic tennis in the lead up tournaments and could be worth an each way bet at $23.
