On the outside looking in at the top eight, the Western Bulldogs must win to keep their finals hopes alive when playing host to GWS at Marvel Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Dogs’ chances of qualifying for September took a hit last weekend, suffering a 95-78 loss to Fremantle at this venue to mark only their second defeat in nine matches at Docklands.
That result came despite the efforts of Josh Dunkley, who finished with 33 disposals, 10 score involvements and a goal.
Elsewhere, GWS snapped a four-match losing streak by overcoming Essendon 96-69 at GIANTS Stadium, led by Lachie Whitfield’s 29-disposal, one-goal display and Jesse Hogan’s four-goal, 12-mark performance.
That result marked the Giants’ highest score since Round 14, when they went down 125-105 to the Bulldogs in a shootout at GIANTS Stadium.
Despite being on the losing side of that fixture, Toby Greene put through seven goals, while Aaron Naughton and Cody Weightman each slotted five for the Dogs.
