In the limited history of this fixture, the home team has won on both occasions with the Mariners winning the first meeting in Gosford and Western United getting up 3-0 in mid-January.
Of course, since scoring three against Adelaide on Australia Day the Western United attack has been sterile on a good day, failing to score a goal in their last three matches.
Helping their cause is the fact they are facing the worst team in the A-League with the Mariners on a six-game winning streak and goalless in their last two matches as well.
With two teams struggling to score, this one really could be a case of “first goal wins”, but I just don’t known which team will score (if any) – so I’ll back a low-scoring contest.
