Julie Bishop heads odds to be Australia’s Next Female Prime Minister

To mark International Women’s Day online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au has released odds on who will be the next woman to get the top job in the country and become Prime Minister.

Julie Bishop tops the betting at odds of $4.00 closely followed by Tanya Plibersek on odds of $5.00 while Pauline Hanson is in with a chance at odds of $7.50.

Two formidable women currently leading their States, New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Queensland Premier Annastacia Palasczuk are quoted at odds of $51 each to reach the pinnacle of Australian politics.

Sportsbet are also taking a punt on which city will follow Melbourne in introducing walk signal women at traffic crossings with Canberra the $2.50 favourite ahead of Sydney ($3.50).

“Julie Bishop and Tanya Plibersek would both make remarkable PM’s and no doubt there will be punters out there that even think Pauline Hanson could one day be in the Lodge,’’ said sportsbet.com.au’s Will Byrne.
