Odds shorten for Queen Elizabeth to retire from public duties

· Sportsbet have slashed the odds of Queen Elizabeth abdicating this year from $11 into $4.00.
· Prince Charles is now $1.20 to be the next Monarch with Prince William paying $2.70.

Following news of Prince Philip’s retirement from public duties, the odds of The Queen following suit and abdicating have been drastically reduced.

Online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au had offered odds of $11 on her majesty stepping aside this year before the announcement but that price is now a much shorter $4.00 chance.

Prince Charles is $1.20 to take the throne next with Prince William a $2.70 chance – Prince Harry pays $26.

“There’s certainly been a few eyebrows raised that this could be a precursor to a much bigger announcement from Buckingham Palace and so we’ve had to adjust the odds accordingly,’’ said sportsbet.com.au’s Will Byrne.
