After breaking a 50-year drought last year, the Kansas City Chiefs are $1.55 favourites at TAB to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($2.50) in Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, on Monday morning.
The Chiefs – $6 to win Super Bowl LV before the season started – had a 14-2 win-loss record in the regular season and progressed to the NFL’s championship game with home victories over the Cleveland Browns (22-17) and Buffalo Bills (38-24) in the playoffs.
Since the Super Bowl teams were confirmed on January 25, 80 percent of support from TAB customers has been placed on the defending Super Bowl champions.
On January 29, $50,000 in total at $1.55 was placed on the Chiefs while $63,500 in total at $1.60 was plonked on February 1, which resulted in Kansas City returning to their opening price of $1.55.
One TAB punter stands to collect $120,000 if Kansas City are victorious after placing a $24,000 wager at $5 on October 30.
The Buccaneers – $51 to win Super Bowl LV before signing Tom Brady – finished the regular season with an 11-5 win-loss record and have recorded road triumphs over Washington (31-23), the New Orleans Saints (30-20) and Green Bay Packers (31-26) to reach their first Super Bowl in 18 seasons.
In his first season as a Buccaneer, Brady will be aiming to secure his seventh Super Bowl ring after winning six times in nine appearances as a New England Patriot.
A TAB customer is awaiting a $100,200 payday if Tampa Bay are victorious in Super Bowl LV having placed a wager of $8350 at $12 on September 2.
The Buccaneers are also creating history as it will be the first time a team has played a Super Bowl in their home stadium.
