Winx has drifted slightly to $1.25 with TAB following drawing six in this morning’s Cox Plate barrier draw.
The superstar mare has only seven rivals in her quest for an historic fourth Cox Plate.
“The barrier draw had little consequence on the reframing of TAB’s Cox Plate market with Winx a dominant favourite at $1.25 and accounting for 72 per cent of single bets placed on the Cox Plate winner,” TAB’s Trent Langskaill said.
“However, she is facing stiff competition in the Godolphin-owned Benbatl – currently the $8.50 second elect – who had won Group 1 events in Dubai and Munich earlier this year before claiming the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes on October 13.”
Winx jumped at $4.20 to win the 2015 Cox Plate, was $1.80 in 2016 and $1.18 last year.
If a punter placed a $1 bet on Winx when she won the Sunshine Coast Guineas in May 2015 and then rolled it over in her 28 victories since, they would now have $44,184.57.
Meanwhile, Kementari and Sunlight are $4.60 joint favourites to win Friday’s Manikato Stakes, ahead Houtzen at $7.50.
