Labor has closed on the Coalition to win the election, in from $6.05 to $5.50 with sportsbet.com.au.
The Coalition has eased from $1.13 to $1.15 but still hold a commanding lead. 85% of the money is predicting a Coalition win.
The odds for a hung parliament have been wound in from $4.00 to $3.50, with no hung parliament out from $1.22 to $1.27.
In Sportsbet’s Government Formed After The Election market, a Coalition majority government is the favourite at a short $1.20, with 65% of the money backing that result.
A Coalition minority government being formed after the election is a $6.00 chance, with a Labor minority paying $16 and a Labor majority at $11.
While both major parties have indicated they won’t form a minority government with the Greens or independents, Sportsbet rates no government being formed after the election as a remote $21 chance.
In Sportsbet’s Federal Election Forecast market, punters are tipping the Coalition to win the election with an eight seat buffer, which is paying $7.50.
The Coalition winning with either a five or six seat buffer are the $5.00 equal favourites, while Labor scraping over the line with a one seat majority paying $12.
“Labor has clawed back some ground, but remain an outside chance of extracting the Coalition from office after just one term. Punters are tipping the Coalition to win the election with an eight seat buffer, but the odds suggest it will be more likely five or six seats,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Bulmer.
