With the final eight settled after Port Adelaide defeated Collingwood by 16 points at the ‘Gabba this evening, TAB has opened betting on Week 1 of the 2020 AFL Finals.
Despite winning the minor premiership, the Power have opened $2 outsiders at TAB to account for Geelong ($1.80) when they clash at the Adelaide Oval.
Since the finals had eight teams beginning in 1994, the minor premier has never started a final in the opening week as the TAB outsider.
The minor premier has won 20 out of 26 finals in the first week going back to 1994 but since the current format commenced in 2000 where first played fourth inside of eighth, the top team has won 14 of 20 clashes in the opening week.
Richmond are $3.25 favourites at TAB to win the 2020 premiership as they search for their third flag in four seasons.
