Despite Australia coming off a confident win in the Second Test in Perth, punters are expecting a seriously tough battle in the Third Test with more than half of all money taken by TAB on a Draw at $5 (52% of all money taken).
The Australian outfit are favourites to take out the Boxing Day clash at the MCG, at $2.15 (India $2.50) but with the majority of punters expecting a draw only 24% of money taken has been for the home team.
One punter will be cheering especially hard for a Draw when the match gets underway after placing a $10,000 bet today on the less than patriotic result (listed at $5.00).
“Considering how placid the MCG pitch was for last year’s Ashes Test, and concerns that the pitch for the upcoming Test could be similar, it’s not surprising that the biggest bet placed on the Boxing Day Test is for the Draw,” TAB’s Trent Langskaill said.
With two matches left to play in Test Series, Australia’s odds to win have been slashed from $6.00 to $2.60, with India now $3.25 outsiders.
