Preview:
This is easily the toughest test of the World Cup to date for both these sides and it does shape as an extremely intriguing clash.
The key factor in this fixture will be the defence of Brazil and they have been very tough to break down during the tournament to date.
They have conceded only a single goal and have actually conceded less than ten shots, which is fairly remarkable at this stage of the tournament.
This defence is overshadowed by the forward line that is led by Neymar and Coutinho, but it is their back four that should prove to be the difference between these two sides.
Belgium have an absolute wealth of attacking talent and Brazil will have their work cut out for them shutting down the likes of Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne and Dries Mertens, but the issue for Belgium is their defence.
They were badly exposed down the wings by Japan and Japan don’t have the quality of Neymar and Coutinho, while the lack of speed possessed by Vincent Kompany and Toby Alderweireld is a serious concern.
There should be plenty of goals scored in this clash, but I’m still not convinced that Belgium have the overall quality to upstage this well-drilled Brazil outfit.
Odds:
Tip: Brazil at $2.10
