Brisbane Lions vs West Coast Eagles Preview
West Coast’s disastrous season looks set to continue this Saturday night against the red-hot Lions at the Gabba.
A night that was supposed to be about Josh Kennedy kicking his 700th goal quickly turned into a humiliating 109-point loss to Richmond last week, one that has left critics calling for a complete rebuild with the Eagles’ season basically over.
Meanwhile, up in Brisbane, it’s a completely different story.
The Lions stamped themselves as the second-best team in the competition with a stirring 24-point win over the Swans at the SCG, a game that was unfortunately marred by Joe Daniher suffering a serious shoulder dislocation.
Fortunately, the Lions have tremendous depth to call upon, as well as a handful of versatile players like Cam Rayner and Dayne Zorko that have proven capable of stepping up and playing in different positions.
As far as betting goes, this is one of the longest lines you’ll see all season, if not over the coming years.
The Lions have opened -65.5-point favourites at time of writing, a line that might make a few punters nervous given Brisbane’s tendency to start slow.
That said, the Lions have won three straight over West Coast, all by 30 points or more.
A line this long makes it a tough game to bet on, but given how many weapons the Lions have in their forward line, and the way they are playing down back, you have to think they’ll an abundance of opportunities to score.
