This might be the most highly anticipated game between the Blues and Geelong since the 1995 Grand Final.
The Cats sent the rest of the competition a statement last week with a defiant home win over reigning premiers Melbourne, a performance that showcased just how organized and deadly they can be with their ball movement.
Carlton has also returned to form of late with two wins from their last three games, including a handy little percentage booster last week over the Eagles in Perth.
Historically, the Blues have won back-to-back games over the Cats, but that hardly counts for much given how much these two sides have improved this year.
Geelong has come undone on the MCG stage on more than one occasion, but overall, it’s fair to say whichever team can win the battle up forward will likely go a long way to prevailing on the scoreboard.
Statistically, the Cats look to have the advantage averaging a couple more scoring shots and more inside 50s in comparison to the Blues, while the way they carved up Melbourne through the midfield last week was impressive to say the least.
Overall, this should be a cracking game of footy that hopefully lives up to the billing, but with Carlton struggling to defend the likes of Tom Lynch and Max King in recent weeks, don’t be surprised if Tom Hawkins and/or Jeremy Cameron leave their mark.
