The departure of superstar fullback Valentine Holmes has seen the Cronulla Sharks drift from $15 to $21 with TAB to win the 2019 NRL Premiership.
In other betting moves since the announcement:
Cronulla have firmed from $41 to $26 to have the most losses for the season
Sharks have drifted from $3 to $3.50 to make the top 4
The Sharks granted Holmes immediate release yesterday allowing the talented 23-year-old to pursue his NFL aspirations in the Unites States; but the loss of their premiership winning speedster has punters thinking the club may struggle in the upcoming season.
“Losing Valentine Holmes is a huge blow for Cronulla. TAB opened the Sharks at $41 to have the most losses in 2019, however, after Holmes’ departure, they have firmed in to $26”, said TAB’s Kristen Fahd
“Cronulla have also eased from $3 out to $3.50 in Top 4 betting and $1.55 to $1.65 in the Top 8 market.”
In Dally M betting Holmes was the Sharks shortest price in the market at $13 with his departure triggering significant price changes for his potential replacements Matt Moylan and Josh Dugan. Moylan trimmed from $34 to $21 and Dugan firmed from $101 to $41 following the news.
The other main movers off the back of the Sharks’ roster change was Souths firming from $9 to $8 and the Dragons shortened from $15 to $13 to take out the 2019 Premiership.
