The round comes to a close at Marvel on Sunday afternoon with an intriguing clash between the top-eight hopeful Suns, and a Bombers team looking to make it a clean sweep over Queensland.
Gold Coast’s miraculous win last week will go down in club folklore, but it was also extremely important as far as the top-eight is concerned.
Another loss would have all but put a line through the Suns’ season, but instead, Noah Anderson’s goal after the siren has left them right in the thick of things with the Saints, Dogs, and Power.
The Bombers have little to play for at this point, but they can build towards next season with their fourth win from their last five games.
Peter Wright helped Essendon to a much-needed win over the Lions last week at the Gabba, and it’s fair to say the Dons’ pressure and overall structure has been significantly better over the last month.
In terms of betting, this is a hard one to get a feel for.
It’s difficult to read too much into a win over the wounded Lions, while the Suns’ opening half against Richmond last week left a lot to be desired.
Looking back, two of the last three games between these two sides have been decided by 10 points or less, including a famous 73-73 draw back in the shortened 2020 season.
Given neither side seems capable of playing out four quarters, sitting on the fence might just be your best bet.
