Geelong v Melbourne | Saturday, August 27, 1.45pm (AEDT), Simonds Stadium
The Demons blew their chance of an unlikely finals berth when they managed to lose to Carlton who themselves had lost their previous nine matches.
In a strange way, they might perform better this week than they would have otherwise now that they have no pressure or expectations to win.
Prior to the Carlton disaster, their form was exceptional beating Port Adelaide away, Hawthorn at the MCG and going down narrowly to West Coast in Perth.
The ball movement from their back half is causing opposition teams enormous problems.
Of course the Cats are heavily favoured to win as they need to protect their place in the top 4 from the menacing Giants.
Last time they met: Rd 12, 2015 – Geelong 89 lost to Melbourne 113
