The Golden State Warriors will head into the NBA Playoffs as the punters’ pick with 33% of money going on them to seal a three-peat of NBA Championships.
“From the moment the Golden State Warriors won the 2017/18 championship, they were the team to beat in 2018/19. The Warriors have won three of the past four championships and punters anticipate that they have a mortgage on the title again this season heading into the playoffs,” TAB’s Nick Quinn said.
This comes off the back of significant support which began when the NBA winner market opened last season. At that stage, Golden State were $2.25 and have firmed significantly to $1.45 just before the playoffs, with James Harden and the Houston Rockets, holding 22 percent of the money, looking the most likely to cause the upset at $11 with TAB customers.
Starting the season at $67 and now into $8 to win the NBA Championship, the Milwaukee Bucks are seen as the biggest threat from the Eastern Conference and are holding 35% in that particular market behind Boston (55%), which had all the early season support.
In the MVP title, it appears a two-horse race with James Harden ($3.75) and Giannis Antetokounmpo ($1.28) set to fight it out. The Bucks star is easily the best backed player in the market and is holding 60 percent of the money, attracting a number of big bets including one of $20,000 at $1.30.
