Two wins from their last five games has left the spotlight firmly fixed on the Lions this week.
Brisbane had genuine excuses last Sunday with names like Daniel Rich, Dayne Zorko, and Harris Andrews missing against the Bombers, but at the same time, more experienced players like Charlie Cameron and Hugh McCluggage failed to turn up for a game the Lions really should have won.
The top four is now in serious doubt, and no one is feeling the pressure more than Chris Fagan.
An altercation with a reporter post-match was very out of character for the Lions’ front man, while on the field, it’s become apparently clear that Brisbane is lacking the fight and toughness that has seen them remain in the top-half of the ladder over the last few seasons.
A game against lowly GWS might be just what the doctor ordered, particularly away from the pressures of playing at home.
On one hand, the Lions are likely to be missing some more key names with COVID sweeping through the club, but providing Cameron, Joe Daniher, and Lincoln McCarthy bounce back up forward, Brisbane should have no problem scoring against a Giants team that has averaged nearly 13 goals against this season.
