Earlier, the talented Hartnell took advantage of Winx’s absence to romp to a near eight-length win in the Chelmsford and he looks well-placed to repeat the dose in the Group 2 Hill Stakes (Race 5) over 2000m against a similar line-up.
While he stopped short of declaring it a performance that would have seen Winx toppled, jockey James McDonald was clearly elated with that display.
