Manly Sea Eagles vs Canberra Raiders Preview
A trip to Brookvale could not have come at a worse time for the struggling Raiders.
Canberra’s season is close to over after suffering a blowout loss at home against the Titans last week, a result that has seen the Raiders slide all the way down to 13th on the ladder with nine games to play.
Things aren’t about to get any easier for the Raiders against a red-hot Manly side that is looking to build on a 66-0 walloping over Canterbury last week.
Tom Trbojevic, Toafofoa Sipley and Jason Saab starred in the shutout victory, and while Turbo might be missing due to Origin commitments, it’s very hard to see Canberra’s sloppy defence coming up with an answer on Thursday night.
To make matters worse, there is a chance Jake Trobjevic returns from a hip injury this week – another worrying side for Ricky Stuart with his side having allowed more points against than for.
If you’ve been keeping count, you’ll also know Manly has won three straight over the Raiders, while it’s worth noting Canberra’s last win at Brookvale came way back in 2016.
Overall, Manly’s star power should prove too much for the Raiders to handle and the early -10.5 line looks a little generous.
