After taking out the Group 2 Prix Kergorlay at Deauville in France overnight, Marmelo is now a $15 TAB equal favourite with Cross Counter for the 2019 Melbourne Cup at Flemington on November 5.
The Hughie Morrison-trained entire was second in the Prix Kergorlay 12 months ago before finishing second to Cross Counter in last year’s Melbourne Cup as a $12 chance at TAB.
Before winning overnight, Marmelo was one of many gallopers rated a $26 chance at TAB to win the Melbourne Cup 2019 on the first Tuesday in November.
One punter was happy with Marmelo’s performance in the early hours of this morning and placed a $1,000 each-way bet at $26/$7.25 immediately after the Prix Kergorlay.
