Melbourne United’s slump over the last six weeks looks set to cost them a semi-final spot. They have slipped to sixth with a 12-13 record courtesy of six losses in their last eight games. We take a look at Saturday’s (08/2/2020) NBL 2020 Round 18 match which is between the Melbourne United and Illawara Hawks.

Preview:
A 77-67 home win over the Wildcats last Wednesday was negated by an 87-83 loss in Brisbane on Saturday. Winning their last three games is non-negotiable if they are to sneak into the playoffs.
The first leg of that shouldn’t be an issue against an Illawarra Hawks riding an eight-match losing streak. The 5-21 Hawks crashed 99-75 in Cairns on Friday – their third straight by more than 20 points – and were on their way to another similar defeat at home to the Breakers when the match was called off due to a leak in the roof.
United have won nine of their last 11 against the Hawks, including all three matches this season by 13-plus margins.
The 12.5-point line is a big one to take on, despite the Hawks’ run of heavy defeats. Consider the under instead with Illawarra averaging 78 points from their last five completed games.
