North Melbourne Kangaroos vs Collingwood Magpies Preview
Well, well what do we have here?
A bottom-of-the-table clash between 17th placed Collingwood and dead last North Melbourne.
Just about everything that can be said about the state of affairs at the Magpies has already been uttered this week, and some may fancy this as the Kangaroos’ best chance to get their first win for season 2021.
Despite the poor run of form and recent losses, this is the fourth week running Collingwood has opened as favorites.
It’s worth noting here, our Round 7 Tips last week took on the Magpies and managed to get the Gold Coast Suns at $2.85 as our best bet for the round.
The Magpies are at $1.30 with North Melbourne the $3.50 underdog at the time of publishing.
You would expect Collingwood to get the win and have a much-needed sugar-hit that four premiership points can offer, but that won’t stop the jungle drums beating at Magpieland.
A young North Melbourne side had a real crack against the Dees in Hobart last week and didn’t lose any admirers.
They are doing as well as any team in their situation should.
Regarding the Same Game Multi for this clash, it’s worth noting that Collingwood has not covered the line in their past five games, and with it set at -22.5 I reckon North is a sneaky chance in this one – I’ll pencil it down as the first leg.
Brody Miocheck has been a shining light for the Magpies this season, averaging 2.1 goals per game – 2+ goals as the second seems about right.
With the game being played under the lid at Marvel, we’re hopefully in for two bottom sides having a decent crack resulting in a shootout – take the over 166.5 total points to finish it off as the third.
A pretty decent $5.30 on offer for this cellar-dweller clash.
