Preview:
These sides actually met in March of last year and it was a 95th minute winner from Larissa Crummer that gave the Australians a 4-3 victory in the Algarve Cup.
Of course plenty has gone on since then but it’s fair to say that this is a match between two relatively even sides and there is plenty of value plays in the market for this one so we are going to go for a Same Game Multi.
You can back a few goals in this one with some confidence considering that the Matildas haven’t exactly looked stable at the back and have conceded in their last five matches, in their win over Jamaica, it was the first time in that run they had not conceded multiple goals.
Even though Norway has had two penalties and two own goals already in the tournament, they have overcome the absence of Ballon D’Or winner Ada Hergerberg by spreading out their goalscoring responsibilities.
For the Matildas there is only one player to look at to score at this point in time and that is the captain Sam Kerr who, as long as she believes she is the best player on the pitch, will find a way to score.
Then, and this is perhaps the riskiest part of the bet but I’m going to back the Matildas to win, in large part because they are gradually improving and if this turns into a shootout, they have more gamebreakers.
