The dream of back-to-back flags is still alive for Richmond and even though they will be travelling to the Adelaide Oval, the Tigers have opened $1.90 equal favourites at TAB against Port Adelaide in next Friday night’s preliminary final.
The Tigers rebounded from last Friday night’s qualifying final loss to the Brisbane Lions by recording a 31-point victory over an undermanned St Kilda in their semi-final at Metricon Stadium.
Richmond shortened from $4 to $3.60 to win their third flag in four seasons following the win over the Saints.
Before last Friday night’s loss, Richmond’s previous loss was a 21-point stumble to Port Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval in Round 11.
One TAB punter rued St Kilda’s inaccurate goalkicking after plonking $50,000 at $1.85 before the first bounce on the Saints to score at least 50 points.
St Kilda finished on 49 points with six goals and 13 behinds.
