Despite both teams losing the qualifying final they contested last weekend, one TAB punter still believes that Geelong can win the AFL flag and the Sydney Roosters can secure the NRL title in 2020.
The TAB customer in question has plonked $10,000 at $48 on the Cats and the Roosters to claim this season’s respective premierships, which would result in a $480,000 collect.
The Cats suffered a 16-point loss to Port Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval last Thursday night but have been backed from as much as $1.77 to $1.67 to defeat Collingwood at the Gabba on Saturday night in their semi-final.
The Roosters – searching for their third-straight premiership – fell 29-28 to Penrith at Panthers Stadium last Friday night but they have firmed from $1.62 to $1.45 to account for Canberra at the SCG tomorrow night in a rematch of last year’s Grand Final.
Earlier today, another TAB punter placed $20,000 at $6 on the Sydney Roosters to win this year’s NRL premiership, which would amount to a $120,000 payday.
