The long wait for Bulldog fans to win the flag looks set to continue according to punters with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au, who report a massive 69% of total money wagered on the match is backing the Sydney Swans.
- A massive 69% of total money wagered is tipping the Swans.
- Swans now $1.58 to win the Grand Final from $1.62 earlier in the week.
- One Sportsbet punter has placed over $400,000 on a Swannies victory.
Their price has gradually shortened in the run up to the bounce from $1.62 into $1.58 with one punter placing $407,000 on John Longmire’s men.
That pales in comparison to the largest bet to date on the Bulldogs, a $5,000 wager at their current odds of $2.45 which is longer than the $2.35 they started the week off at.
If there is to be an upset, the Bulldogs will just sneak over the line according to punters, with a winning margin for the doggies of between 1 and 39 ($3.00) attracting more money than every other margin option combined.
Betting for the Norm Smith Medal is an extremely close race though – Buddy Franklin the best backed at $9.00 but only slightly more than Luke Parker (also $9.00) and favourite Marcus Bontempelli ($7.00).
“The Doggies motto may be ‘yield to none’ but our punters reckon that’s rubbish and are heavily supporting the Swans to win a sixth flag,’’ said sportsbet.com.au’s Will Byrne.
