Rafael Nadal is now a commanding $1.35 favourite at TAB to win the 2019 US Open men’s title after Roger Federer was beaten in the quarter-finals by Grigor Dimitrov.
Nadal was $1.85 to win the men’s title before Federer and Dimitrov commenced their quarter-final and has now tightened to $1.35 with Novak Djokovic also out having retired two days ago in the fourth round.
Federer was $2.60 to win his 21st major championship before falling 3-6 6-4 3-6 6-4 6-2 to the world number 78 from Bulgaria.
One TAB punter was particularly crestfallen by Federer’s loss as they placed $37,250 at $1.05 on the five-time US Open men’s champion to defeat Dimitrov for a potential profit of $1862.50.
Fifth seed Daniil Medvedev has become the $6 second favourite for the 2019 US Open men’s crown after overcoming Stan Wawrinka in four sets earlier this morning.
Dimitrov has shortened dramatically from $67 to $9 at TAB to win the men’s championship at Flushing Meadows after overpowering Federer for the first time in eight attempts.
Dimitrov’s biggest tournament triumph occurred in 2017 when he won the season-ending ATP Finals event in London.
