The listed Recognition Stakes will highlight a great day of racing at Doomben this Saturday. We preview each race and give you our tips and bets.
RACE 1 – 12:23PM – QTIS 2yo Handicap (1200m)
Lady Banff showed a clean set of heels for an all the way win on debut over 1110m at Doomben a fortnight ago and there is no reason to say the Top Echelon filly can’t do it again. Tick Tock Boom also has race experience with a first up fourth and look for improvement with the blinkers going on. Yes Yup Yay was an eight and half lengths Gold Coast barrier trial winner in preparation for her race debut and the betting will be the best guide for first starter Mass Destruction.
Tip: 4 Units Lady Banff
RACE 2 – 12:58PM – QTIS 3yo Handicap (1615m)
Guntantes was a winner over 1600m at Eagle Farm three starts and was back in the winner’s stall last start over 1350m with 59kg and will be hard to beat again with the same weight from the inside gate. Don’t Waiver was also a 1600m Eagle Farm winner three runs back and has been placed at his next two starts over 1600m and 1800m and has each way claims again. Alignment has had a month in between runs but has won a Gold Coast trial since and Tears Of Love has earned another chance in the city with a last start win over 1625m in Toowoomba.
Tip: 2 Units Guntantes
RACE 3 – 1:33PM – BenchMark 70 Handicap (2020m)
Rocbolt scored his first win from twenty months over 2200m at the Gold Coast last start and with a bit of luck can make it two on the trot at Doomben on Saturday. Own Sweet Way has good out of town form with two wins from his last three starts at the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast and can figure in the mix again. Red Stina bounced back for a win over 1600m at Doomben and is suited again and Momentum To Win has only missed the place once from his last five starts.
Tip: 2 Units Rocbolt
RACE 4 – 2:08PM – Class 3 Plate (1350m)
Dreamreacher was a winner over 1200m at Eagle Farm two starts back and was then beaten as favourite when third over 1400m at Eagle Farm and he gets his chance to redeem himself. Cinnamon Missile hasn’t been far off the pace with three fourths and a third at his last four starts and is facing similar opposition here. Maslow has found some good form with three wins from his last four starts and is a winner over this course and distance and Fat Max comes back to town after a win at the Sunshine Coast.
Tip: 2 Units Dreamreacher
RACE 5 – 2:48PM – 0 – 80 Handicap (1350m)
Ashman is the winner of his last four starts at Ballina, Lismore, Doomben and Ipswich and has a great chance to make it five wins on the trot. Park Chinois has been consistent of late with a win and a second at Eagle Farm and will get very chance from the inside gate. Dreamreacher is always thereabouts and Maslow is working his way up through the grades with three wins from his last four starts.
Tip: 4 Units Ashman
RACE 6 – 3:28PM – 1MW Handicap (1110m)
Johnny Whitesox is fitter for one run back from a spell, has a nice drop in the weights and will get a cosy run from barrier three. Constant Flight had consistent form before a short break with two wins and a third and looks well placed here. Dream Master was a winner over this course and distance two starts back and has the early pace to overcome a wide gate and Mr Storm has some handy form with two wins from his last three starts.
Tip: 2 Units Each Way Johnny Whitesox
RACE 7 – 4:08PM – F&M Classic (1200m)
Miss Fabulass is fitter for two runs back from a spell and will find a lot easier than her last seventh in Group 3 company at Randwick. Ready For Prophet is also coming out of the Sydney Spring Carnival and will probably go forward from her wide barrier. Spirit’s Choice is returning from an unsuccessful Melbourne trip and is better suited in this class and Epic Girl gets her chance to claim some back type after wins at her last two starts at Doomben and Eagle Farm.
Tip: 4 Units Miss Fabulass
RACE 8 – 4:48PM – Recognition Stakes (1350m)
Signore Fox was a winner over 1200m at Listed level at Eagle Farm during the Brisbane Winter Carnival and resumed from a break for a win in a 1200m BenchMark 88 Handicap at Randwick. The Peter and Paul Snowden trained Signore Fox was an easy winner in a recent Hawkesbury barrier trial and will strip as one of the main chances. Deep Image is racing in fine form with two wins and a second from his last three starts at Eagle Farm and can be in the mix again. Tambo’s Mate has to be among the top contenders with two wins and two placings from his last four starts at Doomben and Eagle Farm and Vega One has a good second up recent and is a winner over this course and distance.
Tip: 3 Units Signore Fox
RACE 9 – 5:25PM – Class 6 Handicap (1615m)
Tatcee has a win and three placings from her last four starts and gets her chance to find her way back into the winner’s stall following her last start third on an 1830m Class 6 at Eagle Farm. Magstock beat Tatcee home last starts and the pair are set to clash again. Brains is nearing a win with placings at his last two starts and Get Stuck In is a two times winner over this course and distance.
Tip: 3 Units Tatcee
