The Reds will make their second appearance in Super Rugby Australia 2021 at home against the Melbourne Rebels on Friday night.
Queensland was largely impressive during the inaugural Super Rugby Australia season, culminating in an appearance in the final, and they picked up where they left off with an impressive win over the Waratahs in Week 1.
They leaked a try very early in the piece, but all that seemed to do was switch on Brad Thorn’s side and it was all but one-way traffic for the remaining 75 minutes.
James O’Connor led from the front in a performance that well and truly underlined his vastly improved maturity, but there were ultimately things to like all over the field and they will surely only improve for the hit-out.
The Rebels will make their eagerly awaited return to action in this match, having had the bye in Week 1. They too performed reasonably well during the 2020 Super Rugby Australia season but were comfortably beaten by this opponent in the preliminary final.
While that is sure to have some baring on their eagerness to win this match, I simply cannot tip against the Reds following their performance in Week 1, and this represents another terrific opportunity to record a big win.
