The 2018 Formula One Championship arrives in Singapore this weekend and the famously tight Marina Bay Circuit.
Lewis Hamilton has opened a commanding lead in the driver standings, but it is the second-placed Sebastian Vettel that remains a firm $2.40 favourite in 2018 Singapore Grand Prix betting, from Red Bull’s Max Verstappen ($4) and Hamilton on the third line ($5).
Australia’s Daniel Ricciardo, who is typically suited to tight and winding courses, is the sole occupant of the fourth line of Singapore Grand Prix betting at $5.50.
Having remained neck and neck in driver standings leading into the midseason month-long break, Hamilton has accelerated away from Vettel and consolidated his big lead with a classy win at the Italian Grand Prix.
The Singapore GP is shaping as a particularly interesting race for a number of reasons. Lewis Hamilton is defending champion however Vettel is the race’s most successful driver, having saluted four times previously.
Hamilton was ready to pounce at Marina Bay in 2017, when the flying Vettel crashed out and he subsequentlt registered the fastest lap of the race on his way to a near five-second win from Ricciardo and Mercedes teammate Valteri Bottas.
It is current the rainy season in Singapore and subsequently, more drivers and teams could be brought into calculations.
Ricciardo’s dominant win at the 2018 Monaco Grand Prix earlier this season was one of the best of his career so far and a repeat of that performance would put him right in the finish of the similarly-tight Singapore Grand Prix.
More often than not, it has been Red Bull’s mechanical consistency and straight line speed that has let Ricciardo down in 2018, but a competitive run in qualifying could mean the difference in his chance of a third Grand Prix win this season.
The Aussie is confident of his chances in Singapore, but believes the improvements made to the Ferraris since the Monaco Grand Prix have exceeded those of his time and has ultimately underlined Vettel as the man to beat.
Tip: Vettel to Win ($2.40)
