- Money running almost 3:1 in favour of Queensland in Origin Opener
- Corey Oates all the rage in first tryscorer market
- NSW favourites despite a lack of punter support
At least one punter reckons we’ve got the market all wrong, placing $22,500 on Queensland to win State of Origin One at odds of $2.00.
Online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au has NSW as the $1.85 favourites despite the fact that nearly three times as money has gone on the Maroons to win the game.
A Queensland 13+ victory is the outsider in the winning margin market at $6.00, but also the most popular amongst punters.
Incredibly, more than one-third of all money bet on the game’s first tryscorer has gone on Queensland winger Corey Oates, who’s the favourite at $9.00.
“Not even an avalanche of money for Queensland has been able to displace NSW from favouritism. We might be left looking a bit silly if the Blues don’t get up tomorrow night,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Christian Jantzen.
