The first round of the NRL finals is over and Sportsbet punters are having a tough time splitting the Storm and Roosters, with the Storm slightly ahead as the $3.00 favourites to win the Grand Final.
The Roosters ($3.20) hold almost as much money as the Storm and those two dominate betting ahead of the Rabbitohs ($4.25).
One punter wagered $10,000 on the Storm when the defending champions were $6.00 with the online bookmaker.
The Sharks are $1.65 to beat the Panthers ($2.25) in Friday night’s semi-final and the Rabbitohs are $1.25 to beat the Dragons ($4.00) the following day.
“Punters only have eyes for two teams and the Storm has a slight edge in popularity. The Roosters snatched the minor premiership from them in the last game of the season and plenty think they can do it against the defending champions in the Grand Final,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Ella Zampatti.
