There’s hardly any breathing room in the top eight this year, and nobody knows that better than the Swans and Dogs.
On percentage, Sydney would play finals if the season were to end today, while the Dogs would be left on the outside looking in after losing to the Lions last week at the Gabba.
Betting wise, it’s been almost impossible to get a feel for these two sides each week, and to make things even more complicated, there really isn’t much separating them on the stat sheet.
Both sides average an equal number of scoring shots (25), while both are averaging around 13 goals a game.
Historically, the Bulldogs have held the wood over the Swans though, winning three of their last four meetings – including this year’s 11-point thriller back in Round 3.
Luke Beveridge’s men led from start to finish that night at Marvel, dominating inside 50 and winning the clearances by a clear margin.
The Dogs were underwhelming in the second half last week against Brisbane, but they did hang tight to trail by only eight points at half-time.
Compared to Sydney’s awful meltdown against the Bombers, one that saw them kick 12 goals and 14 behinds, and it suddenly feels a little easier to have more confidence in the Dogs bouncing back.
