Funstar is tipped to start the early part of her Sydney spring preparation in victorious fashion according to TAB.
The Chris Waller-trained soon-to-be four-year-old mare is the $6 ‘Pre Nominations’ favourite for the Winx Stakes at Royal Randwick on August 22 and the George Main Stakes at Royal Randwick on September 19.
Last year’s Flight Stakes winner is favoured over Master Of Wine and Verry Elleegant ($8 in both races).
The Team Hawkes-trained Master Of Wine progressed impressively through the Sydney autumn and finished his campaign with a fourth placing in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes on April 11.
Verry Elleegant – a stablemate of Funstar – enjoyed a terrific autumn winning the Tancred Stakes and finishing second in the Chipping Norton Stakes, Ranvet Stakes and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
Hungry Heart won the Sweet Embrace Stakes last February on her path to finishing fifth in the Golden Slipper and has opened the $8 ‘Pre Nominations’ favourite for the Flight Stakes at Royal Randwick on October 3.
Hungry Heart, the unbeaten Cherry Tortoni, dual Group 1 winner King’s Legacy and Mamaragan are $11 equal favourites in the ‘Pre Nominations’ market for the Spring Champion Stakes at Royal Randwick on October 10.
