Preview:
The Western Bulldogs will unfurl their 2018 AFLW premiership flag in front of its home crowd at Whitten Oval as they take on Geelong.
The Cats won their historic first AFLW game against Collingwood by one point thanks to a behind from their number 1 draft pick Nina Morrison missing a set shot only to just miss resulting in a famous one-point win for the Cats.
In what was a slow start for the Cats, they were able to get into gear in the second quarter when Mia-Rae Clifford (formerly of Melbourne) able to put pressure in the midfield
Geelong local, Maddy Boyd who is now at her third AFLW club having played for Melbourne and GWS was the Cats top-scorer and will go down in history as the first person to score in the Cats AFLW history.
For the reigning premiers, the Bulldogs were able to get the better of Adelaide in a very low scoring but thrilling affair at Norwood Oval last week.
Western Bulldogs co-captain Katie Brennan, who missed last years Grand Final due to suspension kicked both of the Doggies goals despite being tagged by Crows defenders.
Ellie Blackburn, the other Bulldogs co-captain had a busy night gathering 18 disposals in the midfield along with support from Hannah Scott, Lauren Spark and Libby Birch.
The Blackburn/Brennan combination looks to be a vital cog in the Bulldogs AFLW premiership defence.
The Western Bulldogs took full opportunity of a wasteful Adelaide last week and while Geelong looked impressive in its AFLW debut against the Pies, the Dogs should be too good for them at home in what should be a tight, close contest.
Odds:
Tip: Geelong at $2.15
