The 2018 British Open gets underway at Carnoustie Golf Links in Scotland on Thursday afternoon and the market suggests that it is a typically open edition of the tournament.
The dry conditions in the United Kingdom mean that the course is playing extremely quickly and makes this a difficult tournament to assess from a betting perspective, but we are confident that we have found some excellent betting plays.

Dustin Johnson is currently a clear favourite in our 2018 British Open betting market at $13, but there is very little between the majority of the leading contenders.
Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose, Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy are all priced at $17 on the second line of betting, while Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas and Tommy Fleetwood are available at odds of $21.
Jason Day is the most fancied Australian at a quote of $26 and he sits on that price along with Brooks Koepka, Henrik Stenson and Tiger Woods.
2018 British Open Tips
Sergio Garcia ($34)
The last time the British Open was held at Carnoustie, Padraig Harrington narrowly denied Sergio Garcia what would have been his first Major title and there is no doubt that he likes this course.
Few modern players have a better record at the British Open than Garcia – he has finished in the top ten on eight occasions – and he will be fully motivated for this tournament following poor efforts at The Masters and the US Open.
Garcia has now shown that he is capable of winning a Major and he offers outstanding value at his current price of $34.
Marc Leishman ($41)
Jason Day may be at shorter odds, but I think that Marc Leishman is Australia’s best chance of winning the British Open for the first time since 1993.
Leishman has finished sixth or better in three of the past four editions of the British Open and he relishes the conditions that are generally found in the United Kingdom.
He is a player that generally gives you value for money when you back him at a Major and the fact that the course is playing so quickly is an advantage for him.
Louis Oosthuizen ($67)
Louis Oosthuizen is a player that does struggle for consistency at the Majors, but when he plays well he is one of the very best golfers in the world.
The last four times that he has been in the top ten at a Major, he has ended up finishing second and he won his only Major to date somewhat out of nowhere in 2010.
There are bunkers littered all over the Carnoustie course and Oosthuizen has the third best Sand Save Percentage of the PGA Tour, while his scrambling ability is right up there with the very best in this field.
Kevin Na ($151)
His record at Majors is poor, but Kevin Na heads into the British Open on the back of a highly impressive win at the Greenbrier Classic and he may have turned the corner.
Na is definitely a better player than his record at Majors suggests and this is his first opportunity to perform at a Major this season.
Consistency is an issue with the American, but the $151 currently available is still over the odds.
