Labor has (Bill) shorten-ed from $1.45 to $1.36 to win the next Federal Election off the back of the Liberal Party leadership challenge.
The ALP, who had leadership instability issues whilst in government, is now a clearer favourite with Ladbrokes to be the next sworn in government.
The Coalition, still no certainty to be led by Malcolm Turnbull by the time Australia next head to the polls, eased from $2.40 to $2.60.
“We’ve seen a real spike in betting on elections because let’s be honest, the chopping and changing of PM’s and governments has become a national sport in recent years,” Ladbrokes spokesman Roger Oldridge said.
“Prime Ministership has become such a poison chalice, it’s actually surprising people are challenging for the position.”
Corey Bernadi’s Australian Conservative Party is third in the Ladbrokes market to form the next government at $101 with Greens $151 and Pauline Hanson’s One Nation $201.
“Political party leadership is really a line-up of the country’s most unpopular people in this current climate,” Oldridge said.
While some in the Liberal camp will claim that “the leadership issue has been settled in the party room this morning”, punters think otherwise and Turnbull is $1.33 to face another leadership challenge.
As for when Australians will next head to the polls, punters are split with 2018 and 2019 being even on $1.83 each.
