ONE TAB customer is convinced that Novak Djokovic will secure his ninth Australian Open men’s title in just over a fortnight after placing a bet of $115,000 at $2.25.
The TAB punter in question will make a profit of $143,750 if the Serbian superstar wins his 18th major singles title at Melbourne Park.
Due to the enormity of the $115,000 wager, 82 percent of the support from TAB customers is on Djokovic to win his third-straight Australian Open men’s championship.
Djokovic, who won his first Australian Open men’s title in 2008, defeated Rafael Nadal in straight sets in the 2019 final before overpowering Dominic Thiem in the fourth and fifth set twelve months ago.
In last year’s major championships, Djokovic was disqualified in the fourth round of the U.S. Open after accidentally hitting an official with a ball while in the French Open men’s final, he was soundly beaten in straight sets by Rafael Nadal.
